The Blood
That Follows.
An installation using projection, suspended objects, sound, and interaction to explore displacement, memory, and the lives interrupted by war.
Concept, TouchDesigner visuals, installation, and film: Yara Hokan.
Memory suspended.
Presence felt.
The Blood That Follows brings visitors into a dimly lit space where flowing red imagery meets suspended toys and clothing. These familiar objects become reminders of childhoods and lives interrupted by displacement.
The project combines projection, a narrated account of fleeing war, and a visual response to the audience’s presence. Its intention is to make a distant story feel spatial and immediate.
I developed the full project, including the concept, TouchDesigner work, visual design, installation, and supporting presentation.
Building the experience.
Projection as atmosphere
Rippling red patterns move across the installation, connecting the objects and surrounding surfaces within one visual environment.
Objects as memory
Suspended toys and clothing introduce a human scale. Their stillness contrasts with the moving projection.
Sound as a personal account
Narration gives the space a voice, connecting the visual experience to an account of loss, escape, and survival.
